Seniors at Welsey   

Wesley Community Center recently hosted its second annual “Road to Wellness” Health Fair with the goal of empowering seniors to make healthy lifestyle choices. Seniors participated in nutrition workshops led by staff from the Harris County Hospital District. The workshops, which were delivered in both Spanish and English, focused on diabetes and how to properly manage the disease through a healthy diet. In addition, students from the TSU College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences generously conducted health screenings for the seniors, which included glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure checks. Regular check-ups are vital to help seniors stay in good health, and the opportunity to have multiple screenings onsite was a real benefit for program participants.
